Comprehensive Plan Amendment Process

Amendment Regulations
In general, amendments to the Comprehensive Plan and/or Future Land Use Map (FLUM) can be adopted only twice per year. Small scale map amendments, as defined in § 163.3187(1)(c), FS, are exempt from the twice per year adoption rule and have a shorter adoption time frame. Contact the comprehensive planner for exceptions to this rule.

Application Process
  • Comprehensive Plan and FLUM amendments are subject not only to the local review process, but also to state review.
  • A pre-application meeting is required prior to submitting an application.
