Since the majority of the Central Fort Myers district contains publically-owned property not on the tax rolls, this district has not generated Tax Increment Financing (TIF) revenue most of its life. Central’s few TIF dollars have been put to maximum use, however. They were used to partially fund a police bike patrol unit that provided enhanced service to the area, and TIF revenue paid for a small amount of CRA staff time. The remaining money is in a reserve fund for stadium upgrades to attract a new baseball team or for another use, now that the Red Sox team has relocated their spring training facility.
