At its May 26, 2016 meeting, the CRA Board of Commissioners approved a 12-year tax rebate for a project which 280 market rate rental apartment units and 15,000 square feet of retail space. The project will be located at 4944 S. Cleveland Avenue, the former home to the Page Field Mobile Home Park. The development will consist of seven building in total including the clubhouse. Amenities will include a 4,500-5,500 sq. ft. clubhouse with a resort-style swimming pool, fitness center, dog walk park, security gates and multiple detached garages. Rents are expected to range from $950-$1,500 per month depending on whether the unit is a one-bedroom, two-bedroom or two-bedroom plus den.

South Trail Shopping Center
Recipient of a CRA grant, the South Trail Shopping Center is one of the key economic development projects on Cleveland Avenue. It has created about 120 new jobs through anchor tenants Save-A-Lot Supermarket and dd’s Discounts store, as well as returning affordable retail shopping to the area. Work was completed in 2012.
Save-A-Lot Supermarket Opens
The Save-A-Lot supermarket chain opened a flagship store—with a new design that other locations will emulate—in the South Trail Shopping Center in 2011. The discount food retailer revamped the former site of a Publix grocery store, funding some of the work through as a CRA grant. The market is the shopping center’s anchor store, with additional shops following their lead. 80 new jobs in the community through Save-A-Lot, in addition to benefiting the surrounding residents who needed a nearby spot to buy groceries.
