As of Jan. 1, paying for parking at the Harborside parking lot in the City of Fort Myers will be faster and more convenient. The Passport Parking app allows drivers to pay by credit through a smartphone application instead of negotiating the kiosk pay stations.
The City’s public works department will remove the kiosks by the end of the year, and the Passport Parking app will go into effect. Notices will be issued during the first two weeks of January to help educate the public and to give people adequate time to adjust to the change.
“The Passport Parking app is an easy, quick method that can be used at meters anywhere downtown,” said Leigh Scrabis, executive director of the Fort Myers Community Redevelopment Agency.
Android and IOS phone users can download the free application through Google Play and the iTunes App store. Users may register for an account using the app or register online through the Passport Parking website at ppprk.com.
Drivers without smartphones may call (239) 790-4675 to pay by credit card. Zip zones and coin meters are available throughout downtown for those without mobile phone access.
