Human Resources
The Human Resources Department serves as a hub for all employee services, activities and programs. This department also constitutes the foundation for the City's ability to ensure fair and equitable treatment for all of its employees in every term, benefit, privilege and condition of employment.
Human Resources provides management support services for all administrative and operational departments. Our scope and function is to partner and guide departments in the compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. These responsibilities contribute to fundamental achievements of objectives within the strategic management of the City.
Human Resources has the critical task of maintaining a healthy and diverse work environment. One that renders a level-playing field for all employees and job applicants, regardless of race, color, physical ability, religion, sexual orientation, age, veteran status, and gender.
With dedicated staff, we support a Citywide workforce through a variety of programs and services, including:
- Recruitment and retention
- Compensation/classification
- Benefits Administration/Wellness
- Employee Relations
- Labor Relations
- Training/development
- Safety and Risk Management
- Workers’ Compensation
- Administration of the City’s general liability/property insurance coverage
Three unions represent the bargaining unit employees: International Union of Police Associations (IUPA), International Association of Firefighters & Paramedics, Inc. (IAFF), and the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT).
