NEW COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT LOBBY HOURS

The City of Fort Myers Community Development Department lobby doors on 1825 Hendry Street will close at 4 p.m. Phone lines remain open from 7:30 am to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The lobby is open for business each morning at 7:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. Please call Community Development staff at 239-321-7925 if there are any questions or concerns. Thank you.

The Fort Myers Community Development Department improves the City’s quality of life by managing the physical growth and development of the City by assisting property owners and businesses and ensuring the City is developed and maintained in compliance with City Codes, ordinances and the Comprehensive Plan.

The Community Development Department serves citizens, visitors, and the public within the city limits of Fort Myers with a wide range of services associated with affordable housing, building inspections, business tax, code enforcement, GIS (maps), permitting, plan review, planning, zoning and more. 

The department is comprised of five divisions: Administration, Building, Permitting and Inspections (BPI), Code Enforcement (CE), Housing, and Planning. 

The Administrative Division is responsible for administrative duties related to the office of the Director and Assistant Director, customer service, cashiering and cash handling, GIS mapping, fiscal management and budget oversight, and leadership for the entire department. 

The Administrative Division consists of the Director, Assistant Director, GIS Analyst, Fiscal Manager, Senior Administrative Assistant, Cashier(s), and a Real Property Specialist.
