Recycling

The 3 R's of Caring for Our Environment

  • Recycle: Conserve energy, landfill space, and natural resources.
  • Reduce: Purchase items that are packaged in recyclable materials. This helps eliminate the items that are not accepted.
  • Reuse: Be creative. Turn an empty coffee can into a handy storage container for anything from buttons to bolts and screws.

Mandatory Commercial Recycling

The Solid Waste Division has implemented Ordinance 3502, mandatory recycling for commercial, non-profit entities, and special events to ensure that recyclable materials generated be source separated and collected so that recyclable materials are not deposited in landfill, but are processed and reused. All multi-family, non-profit, and commercial accounts will be required to subscribe to the city's or private provider for recycling services to abide by the city's new solid waste ordinance. For more information, please contact the Solid Waste Division at 239-321-8050.

Residential Recycling

Residential recycling will be collected on the same day as garbage and all recyclable materials can go in the same recycling container.
