Members
Members shall reflect knowledge in landscaping, plants, and beautification. They shall reside, work, or own property within the city. The mayor's nomination shall be a member of the council.
The board shall consist of 7 members and 2 alternate members. The members of the board shall serve for 3-year terms at the pleasure of the City Council without compensation. A member must be present for 75% of the meetings in a 12-month period or the chair may declare the member's office vacant.
Overview
The Beautification Advisory Board members shall be sworn in by the city clerk to perform the duties of office. The duties of the board are as follows:
- Act in an advisory capacity in matters relating and pertaining to landscaping for community enhancement and specific beautification projects on properties owned, managed, leased, and operated by the city or which may hereafter be acquired by the city.
- Act in an advisory capacity in recommending beautification along highways, roads, and streets to conserve the natural roadside growth and scenery.
- Act in an advisory capacity in reviewing, in the design stage, all new, remodeled, or replacement landscaping projects in excess of $5,000 and located in city rights-of-way and parks, excluding maintenance, and replacement of landscaping under $5,000 in value according to the parks department.
