FORT MYERS, Fla. (Oct. 22, 2020) – As an ongoing effort of the Safe and Clean Task Force, City of Fort Myers staff, community volunteers and residents are participating in a neighborhood cleanup on Friday, October 23 from 1-4 p.m. The cleanup is one in a series of events highlighting activities of city employees during Florida City Government Week, October 19-25, 2020, following up on last week’s two-day cleanup of the Billy Creek Filter Marsh, Billy Creek and the Ford Street Preserve.
City of Fort Myers employees and community volunteers will be picking up junk, trash, debris and litter in addition to cutting grass and trimming overgrowth. The staging area for the event is located at 4201 Arlington Avenue, Fort Myers.
All trash placed curbside will be picked up on the day of the cleanup. Residents must park vehicles in driveways only, not on grass or sidewalks.
The neighborhood cleanup is coordinated by the City of Fort Myers Safe and Clean Task Force (members include Public Works, Parks, Stormwater and Solid Waste; Fort Myers Police Department; Fort Myers Fire Department; Community Development, Code Enforcement Field Supervisor and Zone Code Officers) and citizen volunteers. FGCU student volunteers are also participating in the event.
