The Fort Myers Community Redevelopment Agency asked LCSO to present information about the opening of the Downtown Outreach Center at its February 17, 2021, CRA Board of Commissioners meeting.
The Downtown Outreach Center is the newest of LCSO's Outreach Centers. The others are located at Miromar Outlets and Bell Tower. The Centers complement the Community Response Unit, an entire unit focusing solely on engaging the community.
"The Outreach Centers are places where the community can come and discover the scope of the Sheriff's Office and just who the people are who work for them," states Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno. This new Downtown Outreach Center is one of the ways in which LCSO is "engaging the community at the highest level," according to Sheriff Marceno.
The sheriff has placed an emphasis on working closely with community members, with quickly sharing crime/safety information and making access to the Lee County Sheriff's Office easier and more convenient.
