BOIL WATER NOTICE IN EFFECT  |  monday, october 9th, 2023

www.cityftmyers.com

The intersection of Edison Avenue and Rockfill Road have remained closed to facilitate the water main installation in that area.  The intersection of Rockfill Road and Edison will be closed until October 10th, 2023. The sanitary sewer has been extended out of the intersection and the water main will be cut in on October 9th, 2023. This work will require a water shutdown on Monday, October 9th, 2023. The water shutdown will begin at 6:00PM until approximately 10:00PM. This work was pushed back to minimize the impact during weekday business hours of the water service interruption expected during the water main tie-in.

The following properties have been identified as impacted:

2051-2970 Rockfill Rd,

4040-4070 Mayflower Rd,

2506 Precast Ct,

4130-4131 Wasau Rd,

4024 Dr Mlk,

4020-4262 Edison Ave

Once the water lines are properly connected and water service can be restored on October 9th, 2023, at approximately 10:00 PM.

Temporary paving of the Rockfill/Edison intersection will begin on Tuesday, October 10th, 2023, with the intersection opening by end of day.

AS A PRECAUTIONARY MEASURE, WE ADVISE BOILING OF WATER CONSUMED FOR DRINKING, COOKING, MAKING ICE, BRUSHING TEETH OR WASHING DISHES. A ROLLING BOIL OF ONE MINUTE IS SUFFICIENT.

As an alternative, bottled water may be used.

THE CITY WILL CONTINUE TO TEST THE WATER AND WILL NOTIFY THE COMMUNITY AS SOON AS THE NOTICE IS RESCINDED.

As a best practice, the water is tested for a minimum of 48 hours following the declaration of the precautionary boil water notice. At that point, the results are provided to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, which will then determine whether the precautionary boil water notice may be rescinded, or additional testing is required.
